What makes a press-ready box file

01

Work from the dieline

A tuck-end box is die-cut, scored and glued from a single flat blank. The dieline defines every cut, fold and glue tab, so build your artwork on that layer and keep the dieline marks separate from the art.

02

Panels, tuck flaps and orientation

A box has multiple panels that fold into a 3D shape. Some panels are upside down on the flat dieline so they read correctly when assembled. Follow the template orientation.

03

Folds and glue tab

Keep important text and logos off the score lines and the glue tab. The glue tab is hidden inside the finished box, so do not place key content there.

04

Bleed and safe zone

Extend full-bleed art 1/8 inch past the die on all edges, and keep important content clear of folds and the inside edges.

05

Color and resolution

Build in CMYK, place images at 300 dpi at final size, embed or outline fonts and export one press-ready PDF on the dieline.

Your questions, answered

Yes. Our box templates include the full dieline with cut, score and glue marks. For a custom box, our prepress team can build a dieline for your size.

On the flat dieline, certain panels are rotated so they read the right way up once the box is folded. Keep your art aligned to the template orientation.

The glue tab is the flap that bonds the box into shape and sits hidden inside. Keep logos and key text off it.

Add 1/8 inch of bleed past the cut line on all edges, including flaps, and keep content off the score lines.
